What happens if I, or you, need to cancel a lesson?
Cancellations may occur for various reasons.
There are no charges for cancelling a booked lesson with at least 24 hours notice. If you've prepaid, your lesson will simply be rescheduled.
Cancelling within 24 hours will incur a £5 fee.
If your child fails to show for their lesson, without prior notice, then the full lesson payment will be required before another lesson takes place.
In the event that I need to cancel a lesson, I'll endeavor to inform you with at least 24 hours notice. If I'm unable to do so, £5 will be deducted from your next lesson or block of lessons.
How do you personalise tutoring lessons for each child?
I assess each child's learning style and needs to tailor the tutoring approach accordingly. Lessons are planned according to these assessments and my planning is adapted after each lesson to suit your child. If you have a recent school report I can also work from any targets your child's teacher may have set.
How do you help to settle the children you tutor and where will the lessons be held?
If your child's tutoring lesson is at my home you are welcome to stay with them for the first couple of lessons or until they are settled.
Lessons at my home will either take place in my dining room, which is down two steps and is open plan with the lounge area, or in my office just off this room.
You are welcome to stay in the lounge area, or relax in the garden in subsequent lessons, or drop your child off and come back at the end of the lesson.
If I am coming to your home then I request a quiet area to work in with a table and chairs (depending on age of child) and a bit of space, if needed, for practical work.
